Wrap Up: May and June 2022

Hello everyone! My reading has taken a dip recently as I’ve been out and about more during the summer. I’m hoping to catch up with my TBR soon and borrow some graphic novels from the library. Here is my wrap up for May and June.

Books Read

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli ⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book had been on my TBR for ages and I’m glad I finally got the chance to listen to the audiobook. Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda is a YA coming of age story about 16-year-old Simon Spier, a gay high school student who is being blackmailed over his sexuality. It’s a charming contemporary with humour and heart. I particularly enjoyed the email exchanges between Simon and his secret crush “Blue”. These two have such a sweet romance! I figured out Blue’s identity early on, although there was still an element of mystery around who he was. Now I need to watch the film adaptation!

Esio Trot by Roald Dahl ⭐⭐⭐

The Magic Finger by Roald Dahl ⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Enormous Crocodile by Roald Dahl ⭐⭐⭐⭐

In June, I had a virtual work experience placement at Penguin Random House with the Children’s Editorial department which was so much fun! I read a lot of submissions, plus these three Roald Dahl books. Roald Dahl was one of my favourite authors as a child and reading these stories again brought back memories!
