Hello everyone! I felt a little sad that I wasn’t able to read any spooky stories during October. Luckily, I recently won a Halloween giveaway prize of five YA horror books which has brightened up my December! In terms of reading, it’s been a mixed bag for the last couple of months although I did discover an excellent fantasy debut novel which I rated 5 stars.
Books Read
Tokyo Tarareba Girls, Vol. 5 by Akiko Higashimura ⭐⭐⭐

Whoa, I was not expecting that revelation at the end. I love the artwork in this addictive series. The side story relationship advice comes across as mean though.
True Loaf by Austen Johnson ⭐⭐⭐

True Loaf is a modern-day short story inspired by Balkan Folklore. This is short and sweet, but I just wish the ending wasn’t so abrupt.
How To Be Right in a World Gone Wrong by James O’Brien ⭐⭐⭐

I listen to the talk radio station LBC a lot and James O’Brien is one of my favourite presenters. I enjoyed listening to this non-fiction audiobook for the most part, although it came across as a bit patronising at times.
The Beast Hunters by Christer Lende ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Ahh it’s been so long since I rated a book 5 stars! The Beast Hunters follows seventeen-year-old Ara whose parents are murdered by a monster. Ara is rescued by two beast hunters, Khendric and Topper, and she joins them on their journey to help solve a mystery. This is an epic fantasy novel with wonderful characters.
