Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme that is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week it’s a freebie so I chose a previous TTT topic which is Retellings I Want to Read. I’ve broadened this out to include fairy tales, literature, and mythology as sources of inspiration.
A Court of Thorns and Roses
This loose retelling of Beauty and the Beast has been on my TBR for ages! I can’t wait to check it out.
Scarlet
I’m really bad at finishing book series! I enjoyed reading Cinder and need to find a copy of Scarlet which is the second book in The Lunar Chronicles series.
A Curse So Dark and Lonely
I’ve heard great things about this dark and captivating YA fantasy retelling by Brigid Kemmerer.
To Kill a Kingdom
I will definitely be soon reading this retelling of The Little Mermaid because it is on my bookshelf!
Flame in the Mist
Flame in the Mist is a very loose retelling of Mulan which is set in feudal Japan instead of China. I’m a fan of Renee Ahdieh’s work and this sounds like an interesting read.
Heartless
Another book by Marissa Meyer! Heartless is an imagined prequel to Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
Circe
I’m a fan of Greek mythology and look forward to reading this novel. Circe features in The Odyssey and I’m intrigued to see how her character is portrayed here.
Hunted
Hunted is a Beauty and the Beast retelling blended with Russian folklore which sounds good to me!
A Thousand Nights
A Thousand Nights is a reimagining of One Thousand and One Nights. This was published in the same year as The Wrath and the Dawn, but from what I’ve heard they are very different books.
Uprooted
A Beauty and the Beast retelling which features a dragon? I’m sold!
Have you read any of these retellings? I would love your recommendations! Let me know in the comments and feel free to link your Top Ten Tuesday post!
It’s always interesting to read retellings of famous tales. Good choice.
