Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme that is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. This week’s topic is Favourite Books Released In the Last Ten Years. Kudos to Goodreads because my memory is terrible haha. I have listed these books by the year they were first published in the UK.
2009 – The Help
I loved The Help! This is a well-written book with strong female friendships.
2010 – The Red Queen
The Red Queen is a historical fictional novel about Margaret Beaufort, one of the key players in the Wars of the Roses. I enjoyed this book, even though Margaret has a holier-than-thou attitude.
2011 – A Dance With Dragons: Part 1 and Part 2
Both of these books are huge! That’s ok though because I love the world-building and attention to detail in A Song of Ice and Fire series.
2012 – Cinder
A stellar sci-fi retelling of Cinderella!
2013 – The White Princess
Another book from The Cousins’ War series which focuses on Elizabeth of York. Whilst Philippa Gregory does take some historical liberties, I found this to be an entertaining read.
2014 – Popular: Vintage Wisdom for a Modern Geek
I haven’t read a lot of memoirs, but Popular is so good! It’s a funny and honest account of a 13 year old’s experiences in middle school as she tries out a real-life social experiment.
2015 – Who’s That Girl?
Who’s That Girl? was the first novel I read by Mhairi McFarlane. Her contemporary romance book gave me all the feels.
2016 – The Dark Days Club
The Dark Days Club is an underrated gem! This is about a Regency heroine who discovers a demon underworld. The author has described it as “Pride and Prejudice meets Buffy in English high society”.
2017 – The Hate U Give
The Hate U Give deserves all the hype surrounding it! I highly recommend Angie Thomas’s debut novel!
2018 – The Perfectly Imperfect Woman
It’s true what they say: Milly Johnson is the queen of feel-good fiction!
